Joe Vela

Dame & Emojibator

A man of many hats, Joe is a seasoned ecommerce advisor, trailblazing sexual wellness brand founder, an accomplished musician and DJ, and currently serves as the Principal CSM at Postscript. In 2016, after coming up with the idea for an eggplant emoji vibrator, Joe started his company, Emojibator, as a side hustle as a way to fund his budding music career. Together with his longtime friend Kris Fretz, they introduced Emojibator to the world with a mission to promote sexual health and celebrate masturbation through education and humor. Joe's background in digital marketing and data science has enabled him to advise some of the largest ecommerce stores on Shopify, specifically on SMS marketing strategy. In his free time, Joe enjoys seeing live music, staying active, cooking, and exploring different cultures through travel.

As an expert in your space, can you share one small but actionable tip for brands?

Be personal. Use segmentation and talk to your customers like they are your friend.

2

Who’s your current brand crush, and what do you love about them?

Feastables - I love how they're laser-focused on having conversations with their audience. Their top KPI is tracking the number of conversations with subscribers. If you can build brand this way, you create a loyal customer base that will continue to buy from you again and again.

3

How should someone approach you about working together?

I'm open to select clients via email.

4

What’s your favorite data point to dive into? Why?

LTV - it's a leading metric that tracks the future value of your business instead of a lagging metric that tracks past performance.
